We had to stay here for two weeks while waiting for our home to be finished and ready to move into. It was the only place available for 14 consecutive days with a kitchenette. The manager on duty at check-in was a floating manager who knew little about the property. She walked us to the room and said we had to inspect it before we could complete the rental. That should have been our first warning. We looked around; the dining table seats were torn up, but we didn’t mind. We signed, brought in our things, and started unpacking. Then we found live roaches in a drawer and killed them. When we called the front desk, the woman acted as if it was no big deal and said she’d leave a note for someone to deal with Monday, even though Monday was a holiday. After unpacking, we pulled back the sheets and found them stained all over, which to us was the same as dirty. We called again because the desk was about to close on a Friday. She said no one from housekeeping was there to bring clean sheets, and because it wasn’t her property she couldn’t get them for us. We had our own blankets, so we slept on top of the comforter, which had burn holes. The melted fabric scratched our legs when we lay down. We also wanted a shower, but behind the curtain was a drain full of gunk and no showerhead. We called the desk ten minutes before the young woman was due to close, and were told there was no maintenance person on staff and someone would be notified. On Saturday, we called and learned there was no maintenance person employed at all. We called each day until the following Thursday, when I went down to the office and finally got the property manager. I asked for a partial refund because we couldn’t take a regular shower and were still dealing with roaches. We woke up to them on the counter and on the bed every day. It was absolutely gross, but my disability and my wife’s lack of work meant our fixed income couldn’t cover another place. They refused any compensation, saying they’d fix things when they could, that they had no maintenance person, and that they’d call someone to spray for roaches. I couldn’t believe that response. I don’t know what was worse, the 75 pounds of makeup and fake eyelashes on the manager’s face or her response to what had happened that week. During our two weeks there, we asked several times for cleaning and fresh sheets, but it never happened. My advice is to avoid this place unless you have no choice but to sleep under a bridge.
The office always seemed to be locked when it was excruciatingly hot outside. On arrival, we were shown room 220, which was in bad shape and missing its microwave dish, though I suspect there were other problems I hadn’t noticed. It still looked somewhat better than room 323, which had trash under the bed, bugs, an unusable shower, and no comforter. Housekeeping brought us one that was damp. I told her to take it right back and dry it properly. We were exhausted from moving things in and fell asleep waiting for her to return, but she didn’t. I went downstairs and got another damp comforter. The front desk finally said maybe the dryer was broken. I asked for a comforter and said I’d dry it myself, but the public laundry room door was jammed shut. When we tried to shower, we found the handle had been removed from the bath/shower, making it unusable. The front desk said it couldn’t be fixed and could only move us back to room 220. We just needed a bath, but had already been put through so much inconvenience. They eventually offered a different room type, but I had to pay a $50 deposit that I shouldn’t have had to pay after all this. A refund would be appreciated. Our new room, 233, is a big improvement, but the rugs smell spoiled from the temperature placed in the room before we arrived. It would be great to have them changed before checkout.
People need to stop complaining about every small WiFi issue. That’s what you use the minutes on your cell phone for, and you know Texas has WiFi problems, but not many people complain. Hotels aren’t maids for adults, so clean your own room. If there are roaches, just buy bug bombs at Walmart and set them off. It’s not that hard to handle things without complaining.
We left more than a week before the end of our stay and received no refund. Nobody contacted us to apologize or make things right. We had been asked to leave after our month was up because we complained about the hotel’s condition, maintenance not doing work in our room, and missing packages. We were then banned from receiving mail or packages for the rest of our stay, supposedly because the manager was angry about our review. She called us into the office and yelled at us like children, then called our personal phone to keep the argument going. There’s no one above the manager to complain to, and even the police department or courts were no help. We were nearly homeless because of these people. The run-down hotel seems to care only about its image. Shamichael, the manager, has no idea how to manage a hotel and is very unprofessional. Our room was filthy and had roaches when we moved in. They seemed to make the bed and maybe wipe a little. We slept on top of the comforter because the top sheet had black stuff on it, and I don’t know what it was.
I’ve been here a couple of months without any major trouble. The staff have been very welcoming, and security is kind. It’s an extended-stay hotel priced to help people out, and I think some residents take advantage of that. Some come in tweaking during the night, and that may explain some of the problems people report. I can’t blame staff for tenants mistreating the property or living in a dirty way that leads to roaches and dirty rooms. Problem tenants have been removed quickly, and maintenance has fixed issues right away when I reported them. For bugs, I put out roach bait stations and haven’t seen any. I also clean my unit and kitchen after using them. I haven’t seen rats or the rub marks that might show rodent traffic. Pest control comes through and does its job. I’ve worked in that industry and suspect residents don’t always let the pest technician into their rooms, which would make the job nearly impossible. It’s great that kids are welcome, especially for people between homes or traveling. Don’t let the bad reviews put you off. If you need an affordable place or are in a pinch, inn town suites has been a blessing to find. It’s not the Ritz Carlton, but it works. I appreciate the whole team and look forward to staying here while I save and look for apartments.
