The Inn at Tomichi Village

The morning meal was fresh and tasty, and the dining area was clean and well kept. Staff at the front desk were welcoming and helpful the whole time. Check-in went smoothly, and they were always ready to answer questions. I had a comfortable stay at Days Inn Gunnison with very good customer service. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Gunnison.

The room had a love seat, a table and coffee table, plus a desk chair, TV, microwave, and fridge. The bed was very comfortable, and the place was quiet with a nice atmosphere. Check-in was easy, and they served a simple breakfast in the lobby. A nice stay.

We did receive a full refund, and I’m writing this to encourage changes and let other travelers know they may get a refund if they push for one. The property feels extremely dated and needs renovation. In our room, the laminate was peeling off the desk, the chair seat was cracked and peeling, and the toilet shifted whenever anyone sat down. I know Days Inn is an economical option, and I don’t expect the top-end amenities of a hotel charging over $300 a night. Still, there’s a basic standard that should come with the price, and this place fell far below it. We chose it because the photos showed two nice hot tubs, and relaxing in one after skiing sounded great. When we went to see them, the area was dilapidated: one tub was nearly empty, and the other was full of yellow-green water. We asked at the front desk on arrival, when someone was there, and were told neither tub worked, but we could use the ones at a sister hotel. The advertised complimentary breakfast was supposed to run until 9:30 AM. My wife and I went to the lobby at 8:45, but it had already been cleared away. No one was at the desk, and we couldn’t find anyone to help. I called from the front desk and got no answer. An hour later, when we left, the desk was still unattended, and repeated calls didn’t get through until late afternoon. A terrible experience.

Kiran was a fantastic host, with a friendly manner and personality that made it easy to ask anything about Gunnison or Crested butte. The breakfast was great, and after a hard day on the slopes the hot tubs were so relaxing. The customer service was the best part of Days in by Wyndham!
