Comfort Inn Huntingdon

The bed was so comfy, and both the room and bathroom were really clean. Breakfast was fresh and free, and the heated pool was nice too. Best hotel I’ve stayed at. I’m definitely coming back.

The location is beautiful, with great hiking nearby, including Hawn’s Overlook, Crosses of Mapleton, Lincoln Caverns, Tytoona Cave, and Thousand Steps Trail. The pool and breakfast were included, which made the price good. I really dislike the gray, bare modern interior, though. It felt more like a prison than a home. That’s just my personal taste, so I’m not taking stars off for it.

The staff were all wonderful, caring, and incredibly helpful, and even the construction crew I met were polite. The construction beside my room was going all day and into part of the evening, though, which made it a tough place to work from home. Sleeping at night is one thing, but my room became an expensive construction zone during the day. I had to stay for 10 days after a personal emergency because I had nowhere else to go, and paid about $1400.00 dollars. Even with military rates, rooms are $125+ unless you use tricks to get a proper deal. It's hard to accept those prices in a small, sleepy town in the freezing winter, though it sure beats sleeping in your car. If the price is comfortable for you, don't hesitate to stay.

The staff at check-in and checkout were nice, and the place was clean. But trains went by about every 30 mins, blowing the horn for a full minute, which made sleep difficult. Around 3:30am, just as I finally fell asleep, the fire alarm went off because of a smoke alarm on the 3rd floor. The sound stopped, but the alarm lights kept flashing for two more hours, so I had to cover my eyes with a pillow. The shower had good pressure, but a curved curtain rod would help, since the curtain kept sticking to me and I had to leave it open. The bed was okay, though I didn't love it. The pillows were small and went flat, and after using three of them my neck hurt the next morning.
