The inside hallway was shockingly filthy. I can’t understand why they don’t steam clean it and wipe down the walls. Luckily, our room was quite clean, and parking was really easy. The room was quiet, with daily maid service, and the couple running the place were courteous. It’s well priced and only about 12 minutes down the road from Smith College. We’d stay again if we needed to.

The room itself was the biggest problem. There were holes and dents in the walls, stains in several places, and the box spring seemed older than I am. The hallway smelled strongly of dust and mold, and the lobby smelled like curry. The video I took was at night, so with the poor lighting, I may have missed things. The owners are a couple and were generally friendly, which made me want to root for them, but what the video shows is hard to excuse. It’s probably the cheapest option nearby, and you can see why. It feels like an old motel without amenities: no toiletries, small bath towels, rough blankets, and anyone can walk right up to your door. I wouldn’t recommend it for families. It might suit someone passing through who’s very focused on saving money.

The staff were kind, and the shower had good water pressure. That’s about where the positives end. The place was smelly and dirty, with scuffs, grime, dust, and mystery drips all over the walls, windows, baseboards, mirrors, and side tables. The clean sheets were a relief, but the blankets reeked of urine. I checked for bed bugs before bringing in our things and, thankfully and surprisingly, didn’t see any. The AC cooled the room well, but rattled loudly and inconsistently. Even with a white noise machine, it was too loud for a light sleeper. There were only two very flat pillows, and staff said they had no extras unless they took some from another room. They said the hotel was sold out, though the parking lot was mostly empty while we were there, so we went to Walmart and bought pillows. One curtain wasn’t attached properly. Both chairs looked stained and nasty. Several outlets were loose or sticking out of the walls, and my phone charger fell straight out of one. The fridge kept our water cool, but it was old, dirty, and janky, with fingerprints all over the front and old ice and food crumbs frozen to the freezer floor. The microwave was covered in old food splatters and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. The tub was free of hair, but there was hair on the wall near the ceiling, drain flies in the tub, and more on the stained old shower curtain. There were also drips from previous guests on the outside of the toilet bowl. I didn’t photograph everything, but I’ll add the pictures I did get. The website said the pool was out of service for the time being. It looked like it had been that way for years: totally overgrown, with green stagnant water and rips in the pool wall. I wouldn’t expect it to be restored soon. We were disappointed to spend our vacation here and stayed out until sundown every day because we didn’t want to be in the room. There was no refund option at check-in. At $150 a night, this wasn’t worth it, and I’d call it a motel at best, not an inn or hotel. I’d call it a No-tel and find somewhere else while you still can.

The room was clean and worked fine, and the rate was good. The finishes are looking a bit tired, though the place seems well maintained overall. The desk staff were friendly, probably the owner.

Really friendly service, and the rooms were very clean. The bathroom, towels, and sheets were clean too. Whatever you need, you get.
