Hampton Inn Hagerstown

The fitness center is really nice, and there's a good range of snacks to buy. The staff were kind enough, but I left disappointed. I've stayed at many hampton inns, and this one fell short of the others. There were orange mold stains and a makeup mark in the shower. The bath towels were tiny, not even covering half my body, and the shower barely got warm at its highest setting. The plugs beside the bed were too close together to use more than one at a time. I came to breakfast at 6:15 a.m., 15 minutes after it opened, and all the hot food was basically cold. The fruit was rotten, and the fruit salad was slimy, so I didn't trust it enough to eat. I got my king room at a discount, which I'm glad about, since I wouldn't pay full price.

Scott at check-in was very patient with my mother-in-law when she got confused about a question involving the card on file. I wasn't confused, but that's another story. His kindness made a difference during an otherwise stress-free, comfortable stay. The staff were kind and the breakfast was nice. I had a fantastic experience from start to finish and would recommend this Hampton Inn.

The bathroom and breakfast were both good, and the staff were nice. It's an older hotel that's been redone. But the sheets and towels could be better. There isn't a desk, and the small round dining table has nowhere to plug in a laptop. The coffee maker has no outlet except in the bathroom. I hope the owner adds desks and office chairs and sorts out the odd outlet setup.

At midnight on a Friday, the clerk called me four times about the TV being too loud. We turned it down every time, and I was trying to find a volume that wouldn't bother anyone, though it was still early for us. Some people fall asleep with a TV on in the background. The TV was already at low volume, and the fourth time he called, he said I had to turn it off completely. He threatened us, which was confusing and disturbing when we'd done nothing but watch TV. I paid $130 for a room with TV and movie channels, so being told at midnight to shut it off or else was unacceptable. The next day, hotel staff told me the overnight manager was new and shouldn't have handled it that way. They said guests shouldn't be asked to turn off the TV. Still, it happened, and he threatened us. Imagine kids trying to watch a movie while staff keeps calling and saying there's no acceptable volume. Completely ridiculous. I'll never stay there again, and anyone who might be awake past midnight should avoid it. They threaten you.
