Embassy Suites by Hilton Hampton Convention Center

I’ve stayed at Embassy Suites Hampton several times and have had a consistently excellent experience. Blessing at the front desk deserves special recognition. Having family in hospitality management, I know the professionalism the industry calls for. She stands out every time: polite, welcoming, efficient, and professional, with warmth and confidence in every interaction. She takes real pride in her role and represents the hotel exceptionally well. I wish more people in hospitality showed her level of professionalism. The hotel itself is beautiful, but it needs staff who care more about cleanliness and activities. On our first visit, the young woman at the service desk didn’t seem welcoming. When we asked about the reservation, she had a monotone expression and gave one- or two-word answers, as if we were bothering her. The room layout was nice, but it hadn’t been cleaned properly. There was dry mold on the bathroom sink and black residue by the other sink in the sitting area. The phone, tissue box, and tables were so dusty you could write your name in it. There were no cups or ice bucket, and the toilet paper had been left on the sink instead of its holder. I was really shocked given the price. It wasn’t worth it. The fitted sheet was for a full-size bed, which I discovered when I pulled back the blanket after returning from an event. Whoever cleaned that room did a bum job, forreal. Their happy hour is for people who drink, but all they offer is chips, dip, and salsa. At Drury hotel you get finger foods, so chips weren’t impressive.

There was a false nail on the main room floor, and the bathroom smelled strongly of cigarettes. I’d confirmed checkout was at 11am, but housekeeping walked in at 9am while I was half dressed because their system had the room marked available. As I left, I told the front desk that the room was now vacant and housekeeping could “clean” it. Neither person had greeted me or looked up from their phones until I spoke. They dismissed me with an “..okay..” and didn’t apologize for the mix-up or ask anything else.

My husband and I had booked a room at Hampton's Embassy Suites, but it was overbooked. At first, I didn’t plan to return to this Embassy Suites. Then Tray, Jeanette & Marcus showed professionalism, compassion, and kindness. Tray & Jeanette worked together to accommodate us fully, and because of them, I’ll consider coming back and gave the hotel 5 stars. The professionalism, knowledge, people skills, and care Tray & Jeanette showed are rare in this industry. I’m confident they’ll advance quickly to the top. Thank-you Tray & Jeanette.
