Extended Stay America Chicago Hanover Park

I had a gross stay at the Gurnee Extended Stay before, with bed bugs and everything. This one in Hanover Park is extremely clean, and the staff are very professional. I highly recommend it.

The location is good, and the front desk guy is cool. But the rooms need work: they aren’t cleaned thoroughly, and the fridge, countertops, and much of the furniture are scuffed. There isn’t any tableware in the room, not even one cup or plate. For an extended stay, that’s pretty ridiculous, especially when they charge another $40 on top of the room price for it. The other issues aren’t worth it and need to be fixed or updated.

Sandra, the manager, has been extremely helpful and does her best to keep everything up to par. Tobias and the other employees are friendly and helpful too. I’ve been staying here for over a year and a half, and it’s been pretty pleasant. Things are going well for the most part, so I really can’t complain. I’d highly recommend it! 😊

We finally gave up at 3am and walked 0.8 miles along the highway with our two children, ages two and three, to the Holiday Inn. We’d been outside since around 2am in 42-degree weather, and this was apparently a common problem for the facility. While we waited, we spoke with a few other people dealing with it too. We’d booked five to eight months ahead and had made clear that our flight would arrive at 1am. The door was locked, and the phone outside for contacting someone was broken. After several calls, online customer service said someone would come help in 15 minutes, but an hour passed with no one showing up. When we called again, a woman rudely told us they’d canceled our room because we hadn’t arrived earlier. That made no sense: we’d always planned to arrive late, and earlier employees had seen the reservation and said someone would be there. I’ve never had service like this. Pay the extra $20 and stay at the Holiday Inn.
