The biggest problem was the bathrooms. One had obvious water damage on the ceiling, with bubbled paint and areas that weren't flat. There was mold or mildew around the tub caulking and between the bath mat and tub. Brown water came from the bath tap, and the drain was so slow that showering meant standing in ankle-deep brown water, or skipping it altogether. I stayed in March and then again in October, and was shocked by how much the quality had fallen in just over 6-months. Both rooms had damaged, stained carpets with holes, enough that I didn't want to go barefoot. The old, dingy furniture needed repair or replacement, and the drawers were dirty. The kitchenette worked, but the glassware, plates, and silverware didn't seem clean, so we avoided them. The refrigerator's icemaker was broken, and the stained couch was missing cushions. The beds were clean, the pillows comfortable, and we all slept decently. The new management's $8 parking charge was another unpleasant surprise. At check-in, nobody asked if I drove or said parking cost extra. A friend asked at the desk before dinner, and after a long pause the staff member mentioned the fee. I'd stayed about 6-months earlier, when there was no charge. The manager said the building had new management and this was a new policy. We paid for 3 passes and put them on our dashboards, but the next morning none of the other cars had one. Either the policy isn't enforced or they're collecting money from guests who don't know about it. That capped off a poor stay. This place should charge motel rates until the remodel is done and the hotel is back in shape.
The staff were the best part of our three-week stay. They were great, especially the women, and helped us when our keys kept malfunctioning over New Year. They also brought us pans when we needed them, since the kitchen didn't have enough supplies for long-term cooking. The place is lower-end and will do the job, but I'd look elsewhere if you can. As the weeks went on, everything felt more beat-up and dull. Construction was happening, but the parts untouched by it needed work too, from the walls and floors to the doors. One outside access door had lost its lining, letting cold air blast through. I'm curious whether the repairs will improve things. The parking itself was fine, but getting around the area was hard. It's near a mall and looks close to a lot on the map, yet the traffic is insane most of the day. Left turns are nearly impossible and even right turns feel dangerous. Walking can seem safer than driving. Laundry costs $4 to wash and another $4 to dry, which seems kind of insane. The gym is nice, but the treadmills are faulty and stop with an emergency halt after about 15 minutes. Breakfast was okay but short on variety. The ham croissants they bring out now and then are amazing, and they should keep making them. It did the job, but I wouldn't stay here again if I returned to the region. It really depends on what matters to you.
Bugs showed up in our room, and when I reported them, nobody followed up. The breakfast was awful, with sandwiches still frozen in the middle. Housekeeping came less than once a week, even when requested, and laundry costs $8 per load to wash and dry. They also tried to charge me $750 for a TV they said we broke. Wouldn't recommend.
The front desk team and the rest of the staff were delightful, and breakfast was good and always kept clean. As a Marriott Titanium member, I'm very happy with the stay and would come back, hopefully for personal travel instead of business. It felt like a home away from home.
The room looked very nice, but the water was brown when I brushed my teeth. I was visiting from outside Maryland, and my friend had booked the place in a nice area. I checked the tubs and sinks in both bedrooms and found brown water there too. I felt sick over it. The front desk manager said there was nothing he could do because the reservation was under my friend's account. He couldn't offer a refund or discount, only points for my friend. I stayed calm, though I was clearly upset. He then offered chips and drinks from the front desk as compensation. After brushing my teeth with brown water, snacks felt unacceptable. I politely declined and left.
