Clarion Buffalo Airport

We had a horrible experience and won't come back. The man who checked us in had a terrible attitude and wasn't polite. Everyone we saw, including employees and guests, was white, and they seemed to stare at us or give us dirty looks, as if they'd never seen a Black family before. I couldn't tell whether they were racist or just in a bad mood, but we didn't feel welcome. The hotel itself was okay, with fairly nice, spacious rooms and bathrooms, though it needs a lot of updating. Breakfast was great, but gets very crowded, so you need to arrive before 8:00am. The pool looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. We waited until someone else got in, and I assumed they'd asked for it to be cleaned because it looked much better afterward.

The service was great and the staff were friendly, and for the price it wasn't a bad deal. The hotel is run down, though: our desk chair was torn and the recliner had cigarette burns. Oddly, even though we had a smoking room, it didn't smell like cigarettes when we opened the door. The pool and hot tub water wasn't clear, and there was mold growing on the walkways around the pool, which was scary. Still, my kids and I would stay again.

We couldn't get out of that room fast enough. The hotel reeked of cigarette smoke, including the non-smoking room we booked. The lobby looked worn, with torn carpets. In our room there was a straight edge razor on the floor beside the recliner, dirty crumpled tissues by and under the bed, and a white powdery substance on the desk. We told the front desk we wouldn't stay, but they still charged us for the entire stay. I'm waiting for my refund. I would not recommend this hotel.

The lobby decor is nice once you get inside, even though the place doesn't look great from the road. The room was clean, with average to above-average furnishings. The man at the counter wasn't very friendly and gave us no information, so we had to ask about everything. We had drinks at the bar, where a new employee was mixing them. He was friendly and made sure we were happy, but clearly hadn't been trained. I might return if I'm in the area.
