Wingate by Wyndham Harrisburg Near Hershey

The staff were great and very friendly, and I’d definitely stay again. I spent one night in April and paid $50 total, which was magnificent value, hard to beat for the money. The spacious room felt more like a suite. Some parts were worn, but only cosmetically, like torn curtains and marks on the walls. Everything worked. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the bathroom was a good size, neither too big nor too small. The shower had excellent spray and pressure. Breakfast was very good for me, and served in a big room. I’m usually happy with cereal or toast. Overall, a very good hotel, 7.9/10.

Our stay was appalling, starting with being put on the fourth floor while it was under construction. Light fixtures hung from the walls by their electrical wiring, and torn, moldy wallpaper lay on the hallway floor. Dust covered everything, including the dining room, and poured into our assigned rooms. Breakfast was pathetic at best. We asked to move because of the construction, and they did move us, but our party ended up split across two floors. There was no hot water for showers, the shower curtains were torn, and the bathrooms were dirty. One room had a round toilet seat on an oblong toilet. Room service never came to clean or replace towels. Both rooms were booked under one reservation. When we went to pay, we were told the booking had already been charged in full to the person who made it. I asked whether we could get a discount because of the abhorrent conditions, but was told no one was available to talk to and no part of the stay could be refunded.

I’ve stayed at this hotel on and off for work over 70 days in the last three months and haven’t run into the problems mentioned in other bad reviews. It’s a totally reasonable two-star hotel, with a good room, a quiet area close to what I needed, plenty of parking and nice staff. Breakfast is decent and free, including a make-your-own waffle station. There’s also a decent little workout room. If you want the basics with a few extras and aren’t expecting anything to knock your socks off, it’s hard to find better for the price.

Good location and a comfortable room with decent amenities. The people at the front desk and in housekeeping were great. Kunj at the front desk is always helpful and very courteous when we ask for recommendations.
