Candlewood Suites Hartford Downtown by IHG

The location suits my needs, but you'll need a car since restaurants and shops aren't within walking distance. The property looks like a newer build and is clean, as are the rooms. Some front desk staff are fairly pleasant. There's no housekeeping until you've stayed seven days. Beds are comfortable and very soft, if you like that.

We spent a night at Candlewood Suites Hartford after an event at the Xfinity Center. The bed was comfortable, and the staff were friendly, but check-in took so long I started thinking they were making our keycards by candlelight. There were holes in the wall and stains in the tub, plus a morning visitor of cinematic proportions, Godzilla the cockroach. We also nearly got into it with the guy running the back parking lot because apparently we looked in his direction too long. It sort of met my expectations for Hartford. We're not asking for a refund. Judging by other reviews, those seem to happen only after natural disasters, and maybe not even then. If sharing your stay with local minibeasts and a bit of chaos sounds fine, this could be your place.

The hotel was tidy, clean, and comfortable, and the staff were helpful and friendly. It was an easy walk to peoples bank arena. My only complaint is that they didn't honor the promotional rate I was given when booking. Prices were higher on concert night than on other weekends.

I'm here for my sister's funeral, so this is already a hard time. We booked a studio suite with one king bed online, and the site lists those rooms by bed size. When we arrived, Aleah gave my husband and me a room with two queens. She said that even though our reservation was for a king, it really meant whatever they had. She was rude and didn't help sort out the reservation or adjust our points.
