Days Inn by Wyndham Hartford/Closest Downtown

Hartford Days Inn keeps welcoming my family, and we’re grateful for that. It feels like home, the room was tidy, and I’m glad the whole hotel has a no smoking policy. We did notice a smoke smell coming from the bathroom, possibly from someone next door. That was unpleasant, though I think they were caught and lost their deposit. The Wi-Fi also took a bit of work to get going, but the customer service person kept at it and reset the network until we could connect. The staff are always courteous and so helpful. Thanks for going above and beyond to make us comfortable. See you soon. :)

I really hate leaving a bad review, but this stay was awful. The noise was the worst part: even though nearly every room across all three floors seemed empty, we were put across from a room being remodeled. From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. there was hammering, drilling, and all kinds of racket. The workers also had a big speaker on, playing music and singing loudly. The place itself looked old and dirty, and the complimentary breakfast was barely anything. I tried the coffee from the breakfast area and it tasted kind of sour. Glad I didn’t get sick. Words don’t really cover how horrible the experience was.

The shower had great pressure and an adjustable rain-style head, but there was no wall along the back half, so water spilled onto the floor. Our room also smelled of smoke when we first walked in. The staff were friendly and deserve five stars. The hotel’s location was convenient, without having to deal with city traffic. Getting through the entrance with luggage was a little awkward: the floor slopes down as you come in, then there are three steps up.

We were excited that a hotel would take 17-year-olds, and at first thought the place seemed decent. Then the elevator smelled strongly of weed, and our floor seemed to be the pot floor. There were no-smoking signs, but the policy didn’t seem enforced. Our room only started smelling after we switched on the vent, so we turned off the air and opened the windows. We were also meant to have a mini fridge, but there wasn’t one. After my friend showered and opened the door, the fire alarm went off. I don’t know why, and nobody in the building seemed to care. The whole Days Inn experience was not great, and I wouldn’t go back.
