Quality Inn Hartsville

The woman who checked us in was the only good part of the stay. Room 215 had huge stains on the pillowcase and sheet that looked like they might have come from a leaking roof. She offered us another room downstairs with one king bed, but said its heater wasn’t working and we’d need a portable one. In room 134, I heard water running as soon as I opened the door. The toilet tank lid was the wrong one and broken in half, though I managed to stop the water. I was too tired to go back to the office again, but when I went to close the curtains, there was a huge bug. The room was in rough shape, and the bathroom door by the tub had been taken off the wall. One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. I stay in hotels for work or vacation once or twice every two weeks, and I’ll never stay at quality Inn again.

The floor was so nasty I had to find a mop and broom and clean it myself. I had to beg for linen, coffee pods, and drying towels, and when I asked for a microwave, they said they didn’t have one. They brought one the day before checkout, I guess hoping I’d extend my stay. Definitely don’t recommend.

The staff were great and helpful, and the beds were comfortable. I booked this as a flight and car rental package. From outside and in the lobby, the place looked clean and tidy, but the room was a different story. The floor was so sticky my feet stuck to it and turned my socks black, so we had to buy cleaning supplies at the dollar store. There were dead bugs in the bathroom, the hair dryer plug was melted and black, and baby items had been left behind. The furnishings and paint could use a good upgrade. The walls were thin enough that my kids heard every detail from next door, along with the smell of “green trees” coming through our adjoining room. Be warned, this seems to be a pay-by-the-hour kind of place, and my kids got an education.

I enjoyed my stay. The people were friendly, and the rooms and beds were clean and comfortable. It was nice to find a clean, smoke-free place in Hartsville.
