The price was very reasonable, and the hotel was clean. I didn't see dirt or bugs, and thankfully there were no bedbugs. The AC worked well, too. We were there while extensive renovations were still underway, and the on-site restaurant was closed for work. Our room had two beds, a fridge with a freezer, a little cooking area with a sink, a microwave, a TV, and a small table with two chairs. There was a pool, vending machines, and ice machines. I didn't use the laundry room, but it was there. The floor was fake wood, which I actually prefer to carpet since dirt, bugs, and fleas can hide in carpet. A few things could be better. The bathroom was very small, with no light by the sink, so we had to keep the room lights on or leave the bathroom door open with its light on. There was nowhere to hang clothes, and our door's weather stripping needed replacing, though the other rooms I saw didn't seem to have the same problem. New Orleans is about a 12-minute drive away when there's no traffic. All in all, it's a nice hotel for the price.
The room didn't look anything like the pictures online, and we left without staying. It smelled damp and moldy, the lobby looked bad, and I didn't feel safe. The door looked as if someone had tried to kick it in and wouldn't even close. We weren't willing to stay, but they refused to refund our money. Worst hotel experience we've had. I can't recommend it, especially for families with kids. This place needs to be torn down.
I'm a remote worker who recently moved from California with my two cats. I picked this inn for its location near New Orleans, the pool and stovetops, and the convenience of the area. Laura was the bright spot: she gave great advice and helped when she could. I hope you get to deal with her if you're stuck staying here. The room was clean enough when I checked in, but though it was supposed to be non-smoking, it still smelled, as if the AC filter needed changing or cleaning. The bathroom smelled too. Mold made the tub unusable except for showering, and the tub was damaged by something heavy. The sink stopper didn't work, there were mousetraps under the bed, and my cat caught several ordinary bugs, including two big roaches. One day I heard housekeeping rummaging through my trash outside my door. They should do that somewhere away from residents. Daily housekeeping knocks between 9:30 and 11 in the morning to ask if you need anything, whether you want it or not. There are no Do Not Disturb signs. Staff went into my room while I was out to get towels I hadn't asked for, then came back hours later with a clean set. I had let this go, but my work computer and valuables were out, and they could have let my cats out. A few days later, after a day of Easter fun, I got locked out at 11 p.m. My cats were confused, and even my neighbor wondered what had happened. The night manager said that because I hadn't paid the pet cleaning fee, which I didn't know about but was willing to pay, they had the right to enter without permission and lock me out at random hours. The night manager was there, so I got new key cards and spoke to the morning manager instead of paying him a dime. I paid the fee and left my room nearly spotless. I asked why no one had called, texted, or emailed before locking me out. The morning manager apologized for the night manager's ignorance but didn't explain the handling of the situation or seem to know normal customer service procedures. Construction and updates were happening daily. The stovetops didn't work, the pool was only just being filled, and the in-room phones were full of static. I had 48 hours of nonstop noise right outside my door while trying to work. No one gave residents notice or apologized, and I couldn't make important calls for hours. On my last day I politely asked for a late checkout without a charge because of the unannounced disruption. They offered an extension for another $40.
Alex and Laura at the front desk made me feel at home, and Keith kept things in order and made sure everything was working to customers' satisfaction. The whole Travel Inn team was great. The cleaning staff were thorough, service was good, and the people were kind. I had a very happy stay, found it affordable, and would come back when I'm in the New Orleans area. Thanks for the hospitality. I'd recommend it.
This was the worst hotel stay I've had in my 64 years. I called Priceline to complain about the construction and the rude front desk employees, who threatened to call the police because we reported dirty bathrooms with urine and feces in the toilet. They said bathrooms are cleaned only every three days. There was noise and prank phone calls all night, along with drug activity and marijuana smells coming from next door all night. We called the operators and nobody answered. When we complained in the morning, the desk manager said they don't answer calls and we had to come down in person. He was arrogant and wanted to fight. Zero stars. I'm calling Priceline today to ask for my money back.
