Holiday Inn Express Haskell - Wayne Area by IHG

The room was clean, spacious, and well maintained, with comfortable beds, and felt well worth the price. I got in around 9:30 PM and check-in was quick and easy. There were a few drinks and snacks by the elevator, which was handy. After several disappointing hotel stays lately, this quick, quiet, stress-free visit was a welcome change. Checkout the next morning was just as smooth. I'd definitely stay again.

The pool area was warm and clean, and breakfast was surprisingly good for a buffet. Everything was hot and the food server staff kept it well attended to. Housekeeping did an adequate job, though they kept forgetting the ice bucket liner. The room had been recently remodeled and was clean. All in all, a good stay.

The hotel itself is comfortable and very nice, and the staff are great. But my mother was thrown out by general manager Patel and told she couldn't come back because they only allow dogs, not cats. Her cat is a registered emotional support animal. I called the day before and the woman on the phone told me bringing the cat wouldn't be a problem. I believe places are required by law to accept support and security animals.

Room 212 was a terrible choice: the heating unit sounded like a lawn mower, the window looked out onto the front entrance awning, and the room was next to the ice maker. I don't expect special treatment as a club member, but after they thanked me for my membership at check-in, I wondered why I was given such an awful room. When I reported the noise, the response was, “I'll tell maintenance.” *Sigh.* IHG should train the front desk in basic hospitality, though the woman seemed nice. The cleaning staff member who brought me fresh towels earned the one star for service.
