Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Havelock NW - N

The free water and cookies from the staff were a nice extra. The room was comfortable, though a little worn, and the detergent Hampton Inn locations are using lately doesn’t smell as fresh as I’d like. That’s not specific to this location. I’ve stayed at quite a few Hilton properties while trying to visit all 100 counties, and this is a solid option. It’s convenient if you’re driving, less so if you want to walk, though there are a few things nearby.

The room, supplies, breakfast buffet, and price all impressed me, especially compared with New York where I live. I visited my son, a Marine at the Havelock base, from December 24th to 29th, 2025. It was good value, but I’d have paid a bit more for better service and follow-through. Staff were generally friendly, but when I needed help because of a foot injury and was using a cane, support felt limited and sometimes uncomfortable to ask for. I had to ask and explain a few times to get help checking out. Housekeeping was brief and not as thorough as I expected. The in-room phone didn’t work, and when the hair dryer stopped working, no replacement was offered. I also left a laptop power cord in the room and realized three days later. They missed it on the desk while cleaning, and its return has been delayed even though I paid for overnight shipping.

Star at the front desk went out of her way to find me after I lost a bracelet during our stay, and someone had found it in the parking lot. She kept it somewhere safe for my friends to pick up and contacted me about it. Great hotel for our Cherry Point UMC homecoming visit to Havelock. Excellent service, thank you!

I travel a lot, mostly staying at Hilton properties, and hardly ever review hotels. This Hampton Inn was typical to slightly above average, with no issues that I noticed. I also appreciate the floors having no carpet. Chawn gets the five stars, though. They helped with a request related to an allergy, even though it meant I had to be difficult. Thanks, Chawn!
