Holiday Inn Express & Suites Hawaiian Gardens by IHG

We booked through Expedia, without travel insurance, so when a storm kept my parents from traveling for their Christmas Eve to Christmas Day stay, Expedia offered no help or resolution. Holiday Inn stepped in promptly and refunded half the stay, which made a difficult situation much easier. I really appreciate their care and professionalism. The front office staff were very polite, and William the GM was professional and accommodating. I’d stay here again and recommend booking directly through the Holiday Inn Express site.

The hotel was clean, and the gym was a favorite. Having free breakfast and coffee in the morning made my day, and all the amenities were appreciated. My husband and I spent Valentine’s weekend here and everything went smoothly. The ladies at the front desk answered my questions and were so helpful. Big shout out to odalys and ruby for their great energy and amazing personalities. They went above and beyond and deserve a promotion and a raise. Definitely five stars if you’re staying in Hawaiian gardens!

The people I dealt with were great and the room itself was pretty comfortable, but the management choices made this stay a failure for me. At night, the motion sensor turns the bathroom light on and blinds you, and there’s no way to disable it. Sitting still on the couch with my laptop also makes the lights shut off. The wall controller for the air conditioner is awful: it only goes down to 65, doesn’t seem to cool that much, and won’t let you keep the fan on or choose a mode. The shower’s hottest setting is only fairly warm, even turned all the way up. They also won’t let DoorDash deliver to the room, so after a long workday with my back hurting, I had to go down to the lobby for food. These inconveniences feel like they’re saving management a buck at the cost of guest comfort.

The rooms have had a recent update and feel modern, with everything you need. My only comfort gripe is that the bed could be better. Breakfast is the usual HIE spread, nothing special. The $15 daily charge for non-secure parking is hard to understand, since this place is nowhere near a tourist attraction or an airport. Other HIEs in the area don’t charge it. If the room rate looks good, add $15 when comparing, and you may find a better deal elsewhere. If you’re tied to IHG, though, it’s not bad.
