There was plenty to do nearby, from trails and waterfalls to indoor water parks. The rail bikes along the river were a must for couples and families. We loved the lake, too. Sunrises and sunsets were peaceful, with lots of wildlife around, and it felt like a birdwatcher’s paradise. The historic resort has kept its nostalgic feel, with vintage furniture in the rooms, libraries full of books, and a wooden bar. We enjoyed the breakfast pastries, cocktail hour, fire-pit marshmallows, and excellent food and drinks. Staff were kind and went out of their way when we ran late. A small issue in our room was handled promptly and professionally. There are several nearby sister properties with the same quaint feel. Thanks for a wonderful vacation.

The Silver Birches Inn felt like a second home. Everyone I met was attentive and warm, almost like family I hadn’t seen in ages. The rooms were lovely, and the whole place has a breathtaking ambiance. I was exploring the Hawley area and quickly understood why the inn has lasted so long. The town was so quiet that it felt like we had it almost to ourselves. With how busy and disconnected from nature life can get, I hope more people consider visiting in the off-season. Thanks for such a great stay, Silver Birches Inn. I’m looking forward to coming back.

A real gem, family owned and run. Every room I saw had a lovely lake view and a little sitting area.

Walking along the stony, pebbled shore at the edge of the lake and taking in the scenery was lovely. The property has acres to wander, and the views from the room and porch are incredible. It’s a beautiful lakeside inn with real charm. The stay itself was a 10/10 experience for me, but service was closer to 5/10. There’s no hot breakfast, just a boiled egg, store bought yogurt, muffins, and similar items, which I don’t think is acceptable at $200 a night. The on-site restaurant shuts at 8 PM, there’s no room service or in-room microwave, and there’s no hotel staff after 9 PM.

The lake views from this place are exceptional, and the location is prime. But after a wedding stay, I wouldn’t recommend the rooms at these prices. The basic ones cost over $300 and smelled strongly of must and mildew. I love that the building is 100 years old, but it doesn’t need to smell that way. The hot water ran out halfway through my first shower, and the dated carpet made the room feel a bit dumpy for what we paid. The small wedding meal was overcooked and dry. When my friend was given the wrong dish, the servers rudely insisted, “well that’s what you picked!” even though she hadn’t. Very unprofessional. If you have to stay overnight for a wedding, bring a hoagie for later. Breakfast was only apples and a Keurig with decaf and tea.
