Bay Area Inn & Suites - Hayward

The room door kept jamming and we couldn’t open it from inside, while the outside windows were broken. The TV didn’t work, and the exterior was dirty too. The office looked neater than the rooms. We found roaches and pubic hair on the toilet seat, and the place felt disgusting. I even had to buy sheets at Ross to cover the beds. I guess you get what you pay for, but hire an actual housekeeper. Not a good experience, and never again.

There are other nearby hotels at about the same price, or a little more, and I think either would be an improvement. This place isn’t worth the headache. The area was decent enough, but the room was a different story: mold all over the bathtub and bathroom, a vent fan that looked like it had been cheaply taped in place, hairs on the sheets, and stains around the room. We booked because of an event nearby, and check-in was awkward and annoying. We waited a while because nobody was at the front desk. It was also hard to understand the person checking us in, so we had to ask them to repeat themselves several times. It shouldn’t be that hard to check in. Cheap rooms, but you get what you pay for. Never again.

I felt unsafe as a guest after some of my personal belongings went missing during my stay. When I reported it, staff and management handled the matter poorly. They made no real effort to investigate or take responsibility, and I felt ignored and disrespected. I can’t recommend this hotel and won’t stay here again.

We switched rooms three times that night. The rooms were awful, smelled strongly of smoke, and the bed shook. Customer service was helpful, which was the only good thing about this hotel.
