The setup seems better suited to friends traveling together or solo male travelers than families with children. The atmosphere and amenities are casual and no-frills, so I'd treat it as a place to sleep while exploring the city rather than somewhere to spend leisure time. If you want an affordable, central base and can do without extra comforts, it's a fair choice.

Damn hotel. They asked me for a $100 deposit when I booked and never gave it back. They're greedy, and I'll never stay there again.

I did enjoy the room, slept well, and would definitely go back. The only snag was being told they didn't take cash, even though a sign in the window said cash or card. I felt unwell and tired, but had to go out and find a nearby Bank of America.
