Motel 6 Hayward, CA – Silicon Valley Gateway

Asha and Anamarie were the only people at the front desk who were helpful and showed compassion. During our two-night getaway, I asked for towels after being told none were available at the desk. I politely checked with Veena in the employee laundry room, where I could see towels, but she yelled that she didn’t have any. When I brought it to manager Dev, who had seemed cheerful while helping another guest, he became dismissive and gave me attitude. I felt the way Veena and Dev treated me was about my race. I don’t make that accusation lightly, but I felt discriminated against.

The rooms cost too much for the quality, and I’d suggest staying elsewhere. There’s just one way in and out now because the exit has been closed, which made getting around a needless hassle. I didn’t see a good reason for it, and it left me feeling like the owner just didn’t want Mc Donald's customers using the parking lot. That’s too much inconvenience for such a poor excuse.

The second room was a little better, but it still had stains on the sheets and pillowcase, and the blanket looked burned, possibly by a cigarette. The first room was much worse, with hair on the bed and a filthy bathroom. I couldn’t have my family sleep there, so I asked to move. This isn’t the clean, decent motel 6 I remember.

I booked two nights for less at Homewood Suites, where breakfast is included. When I called here, I was quoted $231 per room per night for two rooms, but prices on booking and ticket master were both over a hundred dollars cheaper. It felt like they were inflating the price or lying about it. They should be more careful about who they try that with. You never know who someone is.
