Restaurants right across the street and next door made the location handy, and the parking lot was really well lit. The rooms were clean and the showers were great. I’d stay here again when we’re in the area. Some chairs or a picnic table outside would be nice for enjoying the weather, but that wouldn’t stop me from coming back. I’d recommend this little hotel.

We hadn’t booked ahead, but this family-run place was affordable and convenient for a night’s rest before heading south toward the national forest and mountains. The room turned out much nicer than I expected: updated, comfortable, and with good amenities. The shower had strong pressure and plenty of temperature range. Looking at the front desk, it seemed like a regular stop for rail workers. We hoped to eat at the railcar across the street, but it didn’t open until 11, so maybe next time. I only thought to take photos and write this after the night, so the bed in the picture has already been slept in.

I’ve traveled a lot and never had a conversation with a hotel manager as angry and rude as this one. I called today to ask about a place I’d never stayed before. He opened by saying there were no rooms for Saturday. When I pointed out that the hotel website showed availability, he said I could book online. I then asked about service and cleanliness, and he became aggressive, telling me rudely to book somewhere else if I didn’t trust them. When I asked why he was speaking to me that way, he hung up. I won’t stay here or recommend it, regardless of how good or bad the motel itself may be. After seeing the response to my review, I still feel the manager doesn’t understand how rude he is with customers. Hanging up on someone isn’t polite. I’m not the only person who has raised concerns about his attitude, and I’d ask him to read the other reviews. If he isn’t the owner, he could share the owner’s number so I can speak with them. If he is the owner, good luck with the hotel business.

Paying in Crypto was possible, too 😁. I liked the mix of being able to stay connected or work remotely with a chance to enjoy the outdoors. The Hodler Inn in Heavener, OK, had the IT amenities I was looking for and felt like a convenient link between the tech world and nature. After spending time with the facilities, I ate at the Southern Bell across the street and visited the live deer park a little farther down the road. A good fit for tech enthusiasts and nature lovers alike, and I’d recommend it.

The room was clean and I liked its retro look, but I was very disappointed by what happened to my clothes. I realized after flying home that I’d left three pieces there the day before. No one answered when I called, so I asked my sister, who lives two minutes away, to try. They answered her and said they’d found the items, but that their policy was to throw away things guests left behind. My sister asked if they could have called to tell me, and they said that wasn’t their policy either. I’d read an earlier review about them going out of their way to return a forgotten cell phone. I understand that three clothing items may not be as valuable as a phone, but two were brand new and I wanted them back. My sister could have picked them up and returned them to me without any cost to the hotel owners. After I posted the review, they surprised me by texting photos the next day of the bags they’d retrieved from the dumpster. They knew which bags the items were in and had taken pictures. They said they hadn’t told us it was their policy to throw out guests’ belongings. But within 24 hours of my leaving, they had in fact put my things in the trash. That’s poor business practice. They could at least have contacted me and let me decide whether I wanted the items mailed to me or thrown away. Assuming I no longer wanted them was rude. I’ve never had this happen before, and I’d expect someone to contact me if I left something behind.
