Best Western Hebbronville Inn

We were in room 211, where there were lots of cockroaches, and the billing situation has been awful too. I paid for one night, then they charged me again after asking for my card to keep on file. When I raised it with the owner, she said there hadn’t been another charge, but that wasn’t true. It’s been five days and the charges are still there. The office gave me the hotel owner’s cell number, and I included a photo of it. The worst hotel experience I’ve had. Don’t stay here.

Dan at the front desk went out of his way to help me print some important documents, which was great service. I was also surprised by how clean and well kept both the rooms and pool were. The rooms have large, up to date TVs. Definitely the best option in Hebronville.

It felt like a ghost hotel, and the staff weren’t customer friendly. After I reported the bug I found, the woman at the front desk said they had no roach problem and that I must have mistaken it for a waterbug. I know what a roach looks like, and this was a German roach. I couldn’t report it the next day because nobody was at the front office. Before that, I’d found an open Coke can by the coffee maker and a candy wrapper on the bathroom floor, so I wondered if I’d walked into someone else’s room. Then, after I’d settled into bed, I felt something crawling up my shoulder. Really unpleasant, and I’m very disappointed in the service.

The nicest part was the woman at the front desk. When I had to cut my trip short, she was helpful about arranging it. I chose this place because there aren’t many options in Hebbronville and the photos looked okay, but the building is clearly old, and you can smell it. It seems like they tried to renovate with updated Moen fixtures, though that doesn’t solve the other problems. The carpet was visibly dirty, like it hadn’t been vacuumed, and the bedding was disappointing, with thin sheets and no real duvet. The sheer shade was broken, so I had to use the blackout shades for privacy. Breakfast runs from 5:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., but when I came down around 8:15 before checkout there was nothing left, no attendant to replenish it, and the tables were dirty. If you’re stuck, it’ll give you a roof over your head, but I’d try another location or a nearby town. They shouldn’t charge more than $100 a night.
