Aloft by Marriott Henderson

The pool is only a little bigger than a bathtub, and there aren’t many food options nearby. It’s an unusual location with more of a business crowd than a party crowd. The rooms and shared areas are nicely furnished, and the property feels fairly new. It’s the only aloft in Las Vegas, which makes Marriott’s decision to market it as an aloft seem strange.

We left a charger in the room and called two days later. It had made it to lost and found, and the woman there said she’d hold it until we came back to Vegas a week later. That was more than we expected. The staff were welcoming and professional, and our clean room had a distant view of the Strip. We only stayed one night, so we didn’t use the splash pool or gym, though other guests seemed happy with both. We’ll definitely stay here next time.

The gym was a highlight, and its closeness to my home might make me consider booking just to use it if the price were lower. But we paid over $300 for two nights, and I don’t feel we got our money’s worth. I manage a hotel myself, and this stay made me think more carefully about what we offer and feel proud of how we set our prices. The bathroom setup really wasn’t for me. It was basically a big bed with a partition, so the shower was right in the room and stepping out left me freezing. I also disliked the shampoo and conditioner scent, and the body gel seemed like it might just be shampoo. The supposedly clean towels had a stale, dirty smell, like they’d been stored in a garage. If towels haven’t been washed, don’t leave them in the room just because they’re folded. I won’t be staying again soon unless the prices better match what’s offered.

The open bathroom was a big drawback for me, and the rooms felt tiny. The air conditioner controls were locked, so we couldn’t change the temperature. There was no closet, and the decor and furniture had a cheap IKEA look. We usually choose Marriott because their hotels are so good, but I’m not a fan of this loft style. I was very disappointed and won’t stay at a loft hotel again.
