The woman running the property was so attentive and made us feel at home right away. Everything was extremely clean, the rooms were thoughtfully put together, and the amenities were beautiful. It’s a quiet place, and I could really feel the care put into making guests comfortable. I even came away with ideas for my own house. We were able to bring both our dogs, too. I hope others get to visit and enjoy the place and its people.

The room smelled musty, and the fan had a thick layer of dust on its blades. Although the decor was cute, the AC didn’t work at first and three lights kept flickering, so I had to move rooms. Getting into either room was frustrating: the first had no door code, and after I called again and waited, I got one. Then I waited another 15 minutes for the code to the replacement room. The property looks much more run down in person than it does on the website. It has potential, but a maintenance and housekeeping checklist might help. I was also told the refund for the room type I had to switch to could take 10-14 days, which seems like a long time.

We paid about $150 for room #29, though I felt it should have cost well under $100. Some of the other cabins looked a little better. The room was clean and things worked, but it was maybe a two- or three-star room, not five-star, and there was a leak stain on the ceiling. Getting started was rough. Registration was easy, but the key code failed after a few tries and locked us out. A text to the manager got it fixed within minutes. We also couldn't use our assigned parking spot because people were working on a vehicle there, and a junk car had apparently been sitting outside for a while. The exterior lights didn't work, making arrival after dark difficult. There’s a great BBQ restaurant within walking distance to the north. The area feels a bit “kludgy,” but it's not horrible. Flat Rock, an adorable town, is just north, and Hendersonville is just south. There are also nicer looking cottage-style places farther south.

The room was nice and still had that homey, mom-and-pop feel. It was our first time, and the setup was a bit unconventional compared with what we're used to. We figured out the kinks, though, and it's a good, progressive concept. We’ll be better prepared next time, and yes, we do plan to come back.
