Days Inn Hendersonville

My spouse is 67 and disabled, and the hotel turned her away because she couldn't provide my Amex card at check-in. Her father was near death, so she'd rushed out of the house to get to the hospital as soon as possible. I was driving from GA when I booked the room for her and paid for four nights. She spent the first night at the hospital, and I called the hotel to say not to cancel the reservation because she wouldn't arrive that night. When she checked in the next day, they still refused her over the card. They didn't try to contact me to verify anything. She had no sleep or shower. They credited the remaining three nights, then charged the full amount again 24 hours later. It's all in dispute. The staff were horribly rude and dishonest. The place was filthy, and there were many questionable characters hanging around the parking lot. Absolutely shameful. Stay anywhere else and trust the very bad ratings.

The linens were soiled and had writing on them (“MS 13”), and the towels and washcloths were dirty. There was no hot water, no internet, and only one TV station. The pillows were fit for animals. Breakfast, which had been promised, wasn't provided. The lobby was closed, so I had to check in outside it. There was no manager support, and I got absolutely no help after calling corporate three times. Zero rating for everything.

Check-in was easy, and the staff were courteous. The rooms are basic and might have been okay, but the beds were so high that it was hard to get into them or even sit on them. I'm 5'6" and my husband is 5'10". For older or disabled guests, I think those beds could be dangerous. The laminate floor was raised in spots, leaving sharp edges that could badly cut bare feet. I guess this is what $139 gets you these days.

We tried giving the place a chance and asked to switch rooms, but the next room had the same issues. We ended up canceling and still had to pay a $50 processing fee, on a room that costs $130. The manager seemed to think everything was wonderful, even though the bedding had yellow stains, the pillows had mold spots and cigarette holes, and the towels were bad too. A truly strange experience, and not in a good way. Beware.
