Rainbow Motel

I packed up and left immediately. The bed looked ready to collapse, the bedding was stained, including blood on the pillows, the smoke detector was covered in duct tape, and the door lock was broken, with the chain slipping off. It also looked like there had been a heater fire in the room. Every outlet was covered with duct tape, the walls were in terrible shape, and a power strip had a pile of things plugged into it. A sign warned not to use the heat or AC and microwave at the same time. At check-in, the owner/front desk guy spoke to me through a little hole in the window and said he’d keep my license as a key deposit. He repeated the rules about ten times, including that food delivery had to be handed to you off premises. That was the least of my worries. This is the absolute worst motel I’ve stayed at. You couldn’t pay me to stay there.

There’s no wifi, and the owner wanted to keep my driving license as a key deposit. He was rude and disrespectful, and said check-in could take anywhere from two minutes to two hours depending on how quickly I understood the house rules. Those included not talking to anyone else on site and not having food delivered. The place was freezing, mouldy, patched up, and grim. Cigarette-burnt sheets, and I dread to think what was living in the mattress. I wore more clothes in bed than I did on the walk down to the restaurant. Honestly, the one redeeming thing was that being so eager to get out meant I got a good day of sightseeing the next day.

After seeing those awful reviews and photos of the rooms, I’m definitely not coming here. The mattresses and furniture look like they were picked up off the roadside. This dump and its owners should be reported and condemned. They’re advertising it for so much money!

I’ve never had worse customer service. With an ice storm and statewide emergency happening in North Carolina, I called to ask if I could reschedule. The person on the phone was incredibly rude and hung up on me the first time before I could explain. I only got as far as mentioning my booking before being told it was nonrefundable and nothing would be done. I never even had a chance to ask about rescheduling. I was horrified by how I was treated. I’m not someone who usually complains, but if I could give zero stars, I would.
