The Vaudeville Suite was spotless and wonderfully spacious. Its decor mixes modern luxury with the building's original features, and the kitchen has full-size appliances, a washer and dryer, and just about every amenity you could think of. It was worth every penny, and we can't wait to stay at The Mercantile again. My husband biked across Missouri on the Katy Trail while I drove to meet him at a different spot each night. We liked the friendly people at the Bothwell Hotel in Sedalia, but The Mercantile was our favorite. It's right by the trailhead, easy to find, and has a little barn next to the building where bikes can be parked safely.

We went to The Mercantile during the Hermann Wine Trail, and it was fantastic. It was quiet and really comfortable, with the feel of a first-class hotel. Next time I'll bring food to cook in the suite's kitchen and invite more friends to enjoy the outdoor space.

Getting in and figuring out where to wash and park our bikes was easy, thanks to the instructions Olga and Monica sent. After biking the Katy Trail in the rain, it was such a relief to come inside and find meals we'd ordered ahead waiting in the refrigerator. We also ordered a celebration cake, and it was delicious. The Vaudeville Suite was a cool place to relax, and the accommodations were delightful. The Mercantile was our favorite stop on our six-day Katy Trail trip. We'll stay there again next time we ride across Missouri.

The rooms were immaculate, and the historic building has been restored with a lot of attention to detail. It was a great, if brief, stay. I'd have given the location five stars if we were riding the Katy Trail, since it's right by the building.

They really have thought of everything for a one-night stop on our weeklong bike trip: coffee and tea choices, nice bath toiletries, comfortable furniture and wonderful mattresses, plus fast Wi-Fi and internet TV. There was a firepit with wood and fire starters, bike storage with tools and supplies, and emergency items for sale on the honor system. The list just keeps going.
