The Presidential Suite is a good choice if you want a historic experience, though expect to take a bath since it doesn't have a shower like the other rooms. The train is nearby and can be heard arriving and leaving, but it wasn't too bad with the provided fan or earplugs. We got a brief tour when we arrived, and guests can also explore the beautiful historic hotel on their own. Laurie was responsive, kind, and wonderful to work with. Booking was easy, and she was especially understanding when our train was delayed and then canceled on checkout day. The owners and operators have worked hard to maintain the White House Hotel's 1860s structure and are continuing restorations. We had a wonderful stay and will return. We also recommend taking the Hermann Trolley and visiting the Hermann 1837 Cellar Bar, which has live music every night.

We loved the historic home so much that we've already booked another stay for fall after our first visit in early December. The restoration is beautiful, the service was outstanding, and it was easy to picture the hotel in its prime, with its speakeasy, bar room, and restored rooms. The room we had was spacious, comfortable, beautiful, and full of history. With no other guests or staff around, it felt like we were the keepers of the place, and we even slipped in a dance in the ballroom. The hotel is steps from the Amtrak station, with the river out one window and shops on the other side. A gate opens right onto downtown. Inside, the rooms, ballroom, and basement speakeasy make the place feel like a trip back in time while still offering modern comforts. We spent the weekend exploring and reading the signs about the building's history. Laurie made us feel at home as soon as we arrived and made sure we had everything we needed. Thank you, Laurie!

The history of this place was amazing, and it was one of the best stays we've had. Our room had a wonderful river view, and the hotel was very clean. So much is within walking distance. Laurie, our host, was very friendly.

We found White House Hotel on Airbnb and came to Hermann by train. We stayed in the Heckman Suite, with an amazing view of the Missouri River. The trains can be quite loud, but the hotel is right across from both the river and train station, so the location and access were great. The staff were friendly and communicated well. Laurie asked whether we'd like a flower bouquet in our room, and it was well worth it.

Laurie made us feel at home right away, and we had everything we needed and then some. The White House Hotel is also a treat to explore: we spent about an hour looking around and reading its history. The beautiful building has incredible rooms, a luxurious ballroom, and a basement speakeasy, with modern amenities alongside all that historic character. Its location just steps from the Amtrak station was especially convenient after hours of travel. Five stars don’t do this stay justice. A+++!
