Rodeway Inn Hermiston - Umatilla

The rooms could use some work, but with pretty much only two people doing it all, I understand. They’re very sweet and caring. He always has a smile and likes keeping an eye on his property, as I would too. We appreciate them more than they know. Thank you both so much for taking care of us ❤️

The room was bigger than I expected for the price, clean, and well cared for. My only issue was the tub: the handle fell off when I tried to use it, had to be pressed in while turning, and there was no plug. The couple who own the motel were attentive and accommodating, and every time we interacted they were kind and smiling. It’s on the main road into town, next to two restaurants, with more places to eat just seconds away by car and shopping a few minutes away. I’d definitely recommend it to budget travelers.

How does this place even have three stars? Avoid it. The conditions were gross and unsanitary. The toilet wouldn’t flush, the water never got hot, and the floor was disgustingly dirty. I didn’t trust getting under the sheets. The door wouldn’t lock and had a gap. The AC stopped working overnight, and the room smelled strongly of smoke even though it’s supposed to be nonsmoking. Two outlets didn’t work, and the smoke/carbon monoxide alarm had been removed from the room. Illegal?

It’s an average cheap motel, except the water stayed completely ice cold, not even lukewarm. I skipped a shower at night, thinking the water heater might have run out, but the same thing happened in the morning. I called the front desk and was told to let it run for 3-4 minutes because the water heater was far away. I let it run for 15 minutes and it was still ice cold. I needed to get dressed and on the road, so I had to take a cold shower. I mentioned it when checking out, and he said he’d look into it.
