Red Roof Inn & Suites Hermitage

Yikes, this was the grossest place I've ever slept. I usually have good experiences at Red Roof, so I hadn't checked reviews, but this was tragic. My first room sent me straight back to the desk. The shower head wasn't attached, there were holes in the bathroom wall, four cockroaches ran when I turned on the light, and a previous guest's personal item was on the floor. They moved me to a slightly less awful room with no bugs or wall holes, but if I hadn't been exhausted from driving all day, I'd have gone to one of the hotels across the street. The sheets had random gross particles on them, as if they'd been dropped on the floor before being put on the bed. One fitted sheet was so threadbare I wondered why they still used it. I used the top sheet from one bed to cover the other mattress. There were crushed cookie crumbs and a jellybean on the floor, holes in the carpet, mold in the bathroom, stained towels that had been cleaned but still felt gross, and stained bedding. There was no Kleenex, only half a roll of toilet paper, and a previous guest's soap was in the shower. The strong chemical room-freshener smell seemed to cover cigarette odor. I slept in my coat and covered the pillows with my clothes because I didn't trust the blankets, and stacked my belongings on the sink because it looked cleanest. The lobby was welcoming and the staff were kind, but that didn't make up for the filthy, rundown room. I think the hotel should close for a full renovation. With so many people mentioning roaches, it seems possible they're in the walls and a regular exterminator won't fix it. If I'd been just a little more awake, I would've left.
