A1 Value Inn Hernando

I’ve traveled on a budget all over Mexico and Central America, and this was the worst place I’ve stayed. The bedbugs alone were completely unacceptable. The mattress was worn, stained, smelly, and full of holes; the linens were threadbare, and there were roach and rodent droppings, broken furniture, holes in the walls, and a dirty floor and bathroom. I might have put up with some of that, but not the bedbugs. I only stayed because it was scallop season, I arrived in the middle of the night, and there was nowhere else available. Otherwise I’d have turned around and demanded my money back. I’m not exaggerating, and I wish I could attach photos.

We booked for a week and a half, but by the second day I had little red bites all over me. The room turned out to be infested with bedbugs. When we raised it, the manager was rude and acted as if I was bothering her. She wouldn’t refund us, though she offered another room. We didn’t want to risk that one too, so we cut our losses and left. The advertised pool was empty, and there was no Wi-Fi either. The room seemed okay otherwise, but I would not recommend this hotel.

The website pictures are very outdated, so don’t be fooled. The rooms were disgustingly filthy, and the staff were too. The person called the manager was unprofessional, dirty, and smelled as bad as the rooms. We travel a lot, and this was the most rundown place we’ve ever stayed. Go somewhere else.

I didn’t like the place at all. There were stains on the sheet, the shower was broken, and other things were below par. The room was disgusting, the pool was green, and the area looked sketchy. After they emailed to ask about my stay, I replied honestly. I wasn’t asking for a free night, a discount, or even an apology. They told me, “well, you stayed there all night and we don't need you or your type.” Seems they only care about hearing positive reviews. Don’t stay here!
