Rodeway Inn & Suites Hershey Chocolate Avenue

The hotel seems family run, and the neighborhood is beautiful. It’s in a great location and was clean and well kept. There was a language barrier since much of the family speaks little English. I chose it partly for the indoor pool, but was disappointed to find it closed during the colder months because they don’t want to heat the pool area then. They also don’t offer any breakfast.

The bed was comfortable, which was the only good part of our stay. The large room had a strange smell, and carpet covered everything, even the stairs. There were just two small lamps, and the curtains barely covered the windows. The outside of the fridge was so dirty that I didn't even open it. There was black mold at the bottom of the shower curtain. I wouldn't book here again.

It’s in a quiet residential area, but still close enough to walk downtown, which is great. The room met expectations for cleanliness and amenities.

I slept past the 11 o’clock checkout, and the manager called to give me 20 minutes to leave. I was out after 40 minutes, with him outside my door ringing my phone and telling me to come out. He got angry, asked why he had to “Babysit” me, and threatened several times to call the cops even after I said I’d pay the late fee. Then he pretended to call them as he walked past my car, describing it over the phone. I waited, then went to the lobby to discuss paying the fees and ask where the police were. He said he wasn’t going to call them, claimed he’d only said he would if I didn’t leave within 5 minutes, and insulted me. When I offered to pay, he rudely said he didn’t want my money and told me never to come back.
