Courtyard Marriott Victorville

The room was a decent size and the bed was comfortable. Most of the staff were very friendly, and the location is convenient, with lots of nearby food choices. There were ants in my room. I also had to ask maintenance twice to work on the air conditioning. Even set to 61°, the room stayed around 68° to 71°.

Evelyn was the reason I’d consider going back to the Courtyard by Marriott Bistro. She was amazing, attentive, friendly, and clearly cared about the guests. Gaby was great too, and the tall gentleman who works there makes really good drinks. The room and location were good as well. The young female employee, though, made things uncomfortable. It wasn’t even busy, but she stood off to the side looking upset and seemed to be staring Evelyn down. Evelyn went over to talk calmly, and the other employee raised her voice, kept repeating herself, shouted “No,” then stomped off. She vanished for hours, leaving Evelyn to manage everything alone. Later, on my way to the restroom, I saw her laughing with the check-in staff. It came across as childish. I didn’t order food after seeing that. I wouldn’t trust someone with that attitude to make my order. She seemed entitled, like she was too good to do her job. Evelyn stayed professional and even spoke kindly about her, which says a lot about Evelyn’s character. I thanked her for it. Some people might have found the whole scene entertaining, but as a professional businesswoman, I saw the disrespect. I’d recommend going when Evelyn, Gaby, or the tall gentleman is there. You’ll have a great time with them. Management really needs to deal with behavior like that because it makes guests uncomfortable.

I stopped for one night, and the room was clean and quiet. But the hot tub railing is a lawsuit waiting to happen. One section is broken and leans about 25 inches when you touch it. There’s even a sign telling people not to use it. Why not repair the handrail?

After a friend's giving celebration, my wife and I stayed instead of driving back down the hill late at night. The staff were courteous, and my 4 p.m. checkout was honored because of my ambassador status. The room was clean and comfortable, and we split the breakfast flatbread, which was great. Restaurant choices for breakfast and dinner are limited, but I knew that beforehand. The pool was nice on a fairly hot day, and the gym also has an indoor pool and hot tub, which would be nice in winter. There’s a decent mix of cardio machines, a few weight machines, and plenty of free weights. There’s a Starbucks, though this location doesn’t have the large plastic cups used at regular locations for iced tea and similar drinks. Expect an iced tea in a coffee cup instead.
