Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Hickory

The hotel looks like it's been remodeled, and I appreciated how clean and updated it felt. It's set back behind nearby stores and restaurants, though still very convenient to I-40. I'd consider staying here again when I'm in the area.

The staff were welcoming, the breakfast was nice, and both the property and room were clean. The bed was comfortable too, so I had no complaints about the accommodations. We happened to be there the same weekend as a girls' school sports team. That's not the hotel's fault, but it taught me to ask whether big groups, especially kids, will be staying when I book.

I've had consistently good stays here, and the hospitality has been top-tier. Okimah at the front desk is the best, and the older gentleman who works weekends is wonderful too. My one issue was a $150 charge to my card for washable hairspray and makeup on the sheets and pillows. I contacted them several times asking the GM to call me, but never heard back. I needed that money for the rest of my stay in NC, and it was all I had left then. Aside from the charge and the GM not calling, everyone has always been wonderful. I stay here about once a month.

We came to Hickory for a convention revival, and the hotel's location worked perfectly for us. The rooms were good, breakfast was delicious, and the staff were courteous and friendly. Thanks to Tabitha for helping me with an emergency hotel reservation. It was worth it, and I'd recommend this hotel. 4.5/5.
