Hico's Upstairs Inn

We’re so glad we found this little inn. It’s cozy and really comfortable. The Peacock Alley bedding, soft pillows, and lovely bathrobe were little touches that made a big difference.

For our 40th Anniversary, we chose Hico so we could park the car and walk around a small town with excellent restaurants and shops. Good Choice for sure. The Upstairs Inn is beautiful and comfortable, a real 5-Star place to stay. The owners pay attention to the little details, which make the drive worthwhile. Highly recommended!

The building looks cool, with a rustic, old-school feel, and seems to be over 100 years old. But it was like trying to sleep in the middle of a rock concert mosh pit. The road noise gets amplified by the windows, the old plank floors make every other guest obvious, and the whole place shakes when someone walks down the hall. Noise from the restaurant downstairs comes right up through the floors. There are three doors in the room, none of which latch properly, so tons of noise comes through. A room beside the common area might as well be in the middle of a college frat party. You might as well have no doors at all. The floorboards are a bit iffy, and one of them moves about three inches each time you step on it. The building also makes random pops that knock pieces of ceiling down while you’re lying in bed. It’s kind of pricey, too. Changing this to 1 star because we have a mouse in our room.

My group rented all three rooms, and it really felt like we had one big apartment to ourselves. Everything has been redone and decorated really well, and it was easy to kick back and relax. I stayed one night and was more than comfortable. This place is an oasis in a small town, whether you need to stay in the area or want a quiet getaway for a night or two.
