Surestay By Best Western Higginsville

The room was fairly well furnished, and breakfast was nice. Being right off the freeway was convenient. It’s a decent place to stay in Higginsville, MO, though my room did have a bit of a mildew smell.

I was so relieved to leave, and I didn’t stay. I’d booked a king room with a sofa through one of their third-party partners, but they wouldn’t honor the room I’d booked and tried to put me in a tiny queen room instead. The motel seemed very poorly managed and maintained. The manager yelled at me on the phone over their computer problem and tried to make it seem like I’d made the mistake, even though I clearly had the email.

I didn’t feel rested, and I won’t stay here again. I arrived at 1:30 a.m., but the free breakfast runs only from 6 to 9, way too early after such a late arrival. Housekeeping woke me at 10 even though checkout was 11, and at 11 my room key had been shut off while I was trying to pack the car. Then I was left waiting in the lobby after the front desk attendant disappeared. It felt like they wanted late arrivals out as quickly as possible. The TV in my room didn’t work either. Google Maps showed about $70 a night, but it turned out to be $80, and I paid $90 in the end. That wasn’t worth it, and the whole thing felt like a rip-off. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Breakfast had options that should please most people. The rooms were very clean and spacious, and the beds were firm but comfortable. I’d definitely stay here again.
