The owners, Melissa and Cary, were kind and helpful, and you can see how much pride they take in the Lodge. We wanted to try somewhere beyond a chain, and this place was more than we needed. It has a small-town, friendly feel, with clean, attractive rooms, spotless bathrooms, plenty of towels, and cozy beds and bedding. The location was excellent for reaching parks and monuments, and town was a quick drive away. We also rode the Mickelson trail. Highly recommend it for a feel-good retreat.

Cary & Melissa were wonderful, helpful hosts. We stayed at Mountain View in August 2025, and everything was clean and really nice. We especially liked the outdoor deck and fire table.

My dad and I stayed two nights at Mountain View Lodges while riding motorcycles around the black hills. The owners were incredibly accommodating, and nice to talk with over breakfast in the morning. They’ve put a lot of work into making the place cozy. The gas fire stove on the deck was a great addition, and there’s also a wood fire pit, though we didn’t use it. It’s a great central spot for the black hills. The AC blew cold, and breakfast was pastries and coffee. Dairy Delight and a gas station are across the street and within walking distance.

We came for a weekend wedding with a few friends and had an amazing stay. The cabin was cute, clean, and cozy, with a beautiful view. The service was great and very kind and helpful. We had plenty of towels, toiletries, utensils, plates, and even complimentary drinks. I’d definitely recommend it.

We had a wonderful stay at Mountain View Lodge & Cabins. The peaceful atmosphere and modern amenities made it great for our family, whether relaxing or exploring. The cozy cabins were clean and comfortable, nestled in the Black Hills with views from the deck. Staff were very friendly and attentive, check-in was easy, and they offered useful local tips for Hill City and the surrounding area. Highly recommend it, and we can’t wait to return.
