Hilliard Motor Lodge

I paid for three nights and lost the money, since neither Priceline nor Hillard Motor Lodge refunded me. The clerk said they’d return my $100 security deposit, but told me I’d have to contact Priceline for the room refund. Priceline then said I had to ask Hillard Motor Lodge instead. I complained about bed bugs on the mattress, but the clerk never came to inspect them or offered another room. Their bed bug policy seems to be just saying they don’t have bed bugs. Let’s see if Priceline even publishes this negative review. The owner and management are dishonest, and this is a very bad motel.

We found a young bedbug between the sheets and got out fast. Before that, the room smelled like mice, though we didn’t see any. Everything was in poor shape and clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a while. There was no soap, and the toilet seat was barely attached. After accepting we’d have to stay somewhere junky, we discovered the bug. They refused even a partial refund, claiming the photo wasn’t taken there, despite its location tag showing the property and room. Several hundred dollars gone, but still cheaper than bedbug treatment.

The refrigerator didn’t work, and the microwave made a racket even though it did function. Our room had two queen beds and decent space, but it seemed to be in its original condition. The motel was probably built in the 1960s. It brought back childhood memories of the early 70s, but after 60 years it’s pretty worn out.

The room was just okay, and not what I booked. I reserved one queen bed but got two, which wasn’t a problem for our one-night stay. The online photos didn’t match the old, outdated room we received. A metal lamp looked pretty old, and the bathroom towel shelf had pulled away from the wall at one anchor. The cleaning staff need to do a better job.
