Days Inn Hillsborough

Around midnight on 1/7/26, the front desk worker was unpleasant and unprofessional. The booking name had been autocorrected to "Frankie Christina," which should have been easy to fix, but instead he took my phone and scrolled through it for about five minutes without asking or saying what he was looking for. When he handed it back, there were new tabs open. Then he charged my card $100 without explaining why, and had me sign papers without telling me what they were. I greeted him and got no response. You need staff who actually want to do their jobs.

The closest large place is Walmart, about 1.5 miles away. Rooms are hit or miss, as you'd expect at a Days Inn, but there were no towels, toothpaste, or plastic forks available. Even when something is available, they say, "we can't deliver to your room." Management is the problem here, not the staff. I also noticed the rating question asking how you'd describe the hotel. The way it's set up makes it hard to describe anything negative, so I took off another star. I had rated the rooms 1, service 2, and location 2, but the questionnaire lowered each by another star.

The lobby plants were the nicest part, and the staff were friendly and doing their best. The rest of the place is badly run down, though, and $80 is too much for it. I'd only stay here if there were absolutely no other options.

We stopped here for a night while driving through town. The reviews had already set my expectations low, but I was still really disappointed when we arrived. There was black mold growing in the rooms.
