I paid $90 and got a room that felt worth maybe $45-50. The floors were dirty, dust and grime covered the trim, and stained ceiling tiles had material hanging from their edges. The bathroom paint was peeling and the tub was disgusting. There was also an almost unbearable, unpleasant smell. Easily the worst place I've stayed. Take your money somewhere else.

At $557 a week, this place should be clean and updated, but it wasn't. There was no pool, and the staff were extremely rude. When you complain, they act like it's your fault. The room had only a small fridge, no microwave, so we had to bring our own. It smelled gross when I walked in, the floors were sticky and dirty, and I found bugs on both beds. I had to clean before my children and partner could come inside. I understand now why people say not to stay here. Never again.

I travel for work and have stayed in some awful motels when there weren't other options. Baw Beese Inn Hotel in Hillsdale, MI was one of those nights. I nearly left as soon as I arrived because the place looked neglected and smelled musty, but I didn't want to spend the whole night searching for another room. I planned to put up with it for one night and find somewhere else the next day. Getting checked in was a struggle too. The owner/manager was missing for almost ten minutes before he came to the door. Mr. Patel was rude from the start. In the room, the sheets looked gray, like they hadn't been washed in weeks. They did replace them, but I was already uneasy. The bathroom smelled mildewy, and when I turned on the faucet, I saw a cockroach. I know one can mean there are more, and I didn't want to find out where they were hiding. The room was freezing, and the thermostat wouldn't work. I went back to the desk, where Mr. Patel rolled his eyes and stared at me before saying he'd look into the heat. For a little while, I felt better once the sheets seemed clean and I thought I wouldn't freeze. Then I saw a couple more cockroaches and had enough. I asked for a refund over the filth and other problems, but he refused. Several times I went to the front counter and found nobody there to help. The place was disgustingly dirty, the roaches seemed to roam freely, and the odor reminded me of dirty drawers and gym socks. The management and customer service were the worst I've experienced. Mr. Patel should take a Customer Service 101 course and a cleaning course. I also can't believe the place averages 3.1 stars. It seems like they must have “friends” writing five-star reviews to boost the rating. Stay away from this hotel at all costs!

I stayed here 30 years ago and it was okay then. It doesn't look like much has changed since. The place is dirty and things are broken, with what seems to be renovation work done very carelessly. The floors were dirty, water pressure was low, the paint job was sloppy, and some light switches didn't work.

The bathroom was grimy, with hair in the tub, a missing bulb in the light bar, no fan cover, and a dirty towel left on the back of the door. The walls and mirror were unclean too. The room itself was dirty, and the TV was small and blared at full volume as soon as I turned it on. I'd rate this below one star if I could.
