The Brooks Motel

We had a really good couple of nights at The Brooks motel. Service was great, and getting checked in and out was easy. It's dog friendly, too, and the location worked well for visiting the area. I'd recommend it for a short stay.

For our wedding at Taconic Ridge Farm on 9/13/15, The Brooks was a great option for guests since it sits right across the street. We appreciated how well they kept us updated on our room block, including how many rooms were booked and still available. Guests could book easily online, and The Brooks gave us several flexible ways to arrange the block instead of requiring a full buyout, like other places did. My husband and I had tried The Brooks a year earlier and were surprised by how comfortable it was, especially with our dog. Nolan and his groomsmen stayed in the house on the property for the wedding. We're looking forward to coming back.

Hillsdale is a charming town, and Great Barrington and Hudson are only minutes away. The Brooks Motel itself has a quiet, relaxing feel, with a modern interior and stylish details that give it a boutique look. Our room was very clean, and the bed was comfy. I liked the thoughtful touches, including USB headboards and mini-fridges. I'll definitely be back.

Our room was small and simple, though the memory foam mattress seemed very new and the sheets were very clean. The rest of the bathroom and the bedroom were clean too. The bathroom, though, was freezing because it had no heat. The sink kept backing up, the shower was extremely small, and a dirty light fixture made the bathroom dim. Cool air also came in through the unit's poorly installed door. For what you get, the hotel felt overpriced and just okay. For local food, Sweet Peas Country Diner was excellent, fresh, delicious, and a great value. It was pretty crowded on a cold, blah weekend, and they seem to do good business. We also tried Four Brothers pizza. The service was nice, but the food and atmosphere were fair, and the pizza was more like something from a frozen supermarket. I'd skip it and have another meal at the diner.
