I had a good stay and would book again. The staff were super friendly and helpful on several occasions, and made me feel welcome. I believe it’s family-run, which gives it a less corporate feel. It’s great value, with kitchenettes that make the place feel like an apartment, even if it’s less showy than its pricier neighbors.

The only real downside was the lack of AC in the rooms. We’d been warned before renting, so I can’t complain, though it still would’ve been much better to have it. I enjoyed my five-day stay at Reeds Bay, my first time in Hawaii, and loved it. The hotel was affordable and very clean, with a little kitchen and private patio. Service was friendly and professional, and we had a great view of the pool and Bay. I’ll definitely stay again. Thank you for the hospitality. ALOHA 💕

The location worked really well for us. There’s a small beach within walking distance where my toddler happily played in the sand and water, and downtown Hilo is about a 5 minutes drive away, with lots of food options. This isn’t a modern resort, but it was a peaceful, old-school escape that felt like hitting reset. The building is older, the Wi-Fi is slow, and there’s no elevator or AC. Still, my room was super clean, and the gorgeous ocean view made those things fade into the background. I spent hours listening to the waves and doing nothing, which brought back simple, cozy seaside trips from my childhood. Pure nostalgia. The Wi-Fi let me browse casually, but my husband wanted a faster connection for work, so don’t count on being too productive.

I really didn’t feel safe in my room here. The hotel is tired and old, with no AC or heating, concrete walls, lots of steps, and no elevators. The room doors have a standard bedroom-style lock with a key but no inner lock, and some sliding doors don’t work properly. In the first room I was given, the balcony sliders wouldn’t lock, and the staff seemed surprised when I pointed it out. I asked to move and ended up on the third floor, where the sliding door lock worked only if you fiddled with it.

We’re having an amazing stay. The room is clean, the bed is comfy, the Wi-Fi is good, and there’s a nice pool and a laundromat right in the hotel. The beach park is next door, the views from the room are beautiful, and the price is the best. The location is good, and the staff are friendly too. I’d definitely book here again if I come back to Big Island.
