Old Hawaiian B and B

Our Queen room at the lovely Old Hawaiin Bed and Breakfast was spacious, comfortable, and clean. Laurie and Stewart were wonderful hosts during our two nights there. The property was beautiful, and breakfast was delicious.

Day two of four, and I'm taking it easy on the lanai before breakfast. Lori and Stewart are charismatic hosts and know a lot about the area. Most of the fruit in the homemade breakfast comes from their property. It's 0759, time to eat!

We used this as a base for exploring both sides of the Big Island during a weeklong stay. The quiet neighborhood is within walking distance of Boiling Pots State Park, and the house is handy for Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, with Saddle Road providing a 60 mph route to the Kona side. Lori and Stewart were welcoming, and our room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed breakfast on the lanai, with backyard fruit, baked goods, eggs, smoothies, and coffee. We'd definitely come back.

The lack of air conditioning was tough for us at first. We usually sleep at 65°F, and our room was probably in the 80°’s on that first night in July. We adjusted, and the later nights weren't as bad. Big windows let the breeze in, but this is only a good fit if you can sleep without AC. The room was spacious and cozy, and the location was convenient, close to downtown and within walking distance of a beautiful waterfall. Breakfast was amazing and healthy, with garden fruit, yogurt, fresh pastries, and smoothies. The girl in charge must get up very early to make it, and our family really appreciated that. She was super nice, helped us plan our trip, and even gave us lotion since the rooms don't provide any.
