Unit 446 was clean, spacious, recently updated, and everything worked. It had a full kitchen and Smart TVs in every room. The buildings are older, but the location is hard to beat, and check-in was easy. The office is just around the corner from one of the Shipyard entrances. Rain washed out some of the early weekend events, but we loved the pool, pickleball courts, and community grills. The beach parking pass was great, and we enjoyed the two bikes included with the rental. We saw people golfing every day, though we didn’t golf ourselves. I’d enthusiastically recommend it if you want space and good beach access, as long as you’re not expecting a brand-new building. Owners, please post some newer photos! We had one complaint about delivery. We ordered from a local service recommended in the coffee-table guidebook, and Shipyard security tried to charge the driver $15 to come in and drop off our order. That’s poor form. If there’s a charge like that, guests should be told, and maybe delivery services shouldn’t be recommended.
We had a wonderful vacation at Southwinds 11. The location was great, and the rooms were spacious, beautiful, and very clean. Having a single-level place with no stairs to climb was especially nice. The only problem was that my husband and I slept in twin beds because we gave our guest the king. Golf packages would have been nice. Thanks for a memorable trip.
We were eventually moved to another unit, but only after several calls where staff hung up on us. At check-in, the first place was filthy, a maintenance ladder blocked one bedroom, and the attic hatch was open with an electrical cord hanging down. The front desk refused our request to move at first, saying housekeeping wasn't available, and acted like the problem was ours. The staff seemed not to understand that they should have a clean, safe unit ready. Completely unacceptable.
The two bikes included with the condo were a nice surprise, and my grandsons got plenty of use out of them. Inside, there was room for six, with two sleeping on the pullout sofa. Both bedrooms had their own bathrooms; the master also had a jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The kitchen was fully equipped, and there was a washer and dryer in a room beside it. We were very satisfied. One thing bothered me, though: there are no gutters. After dinner one night, we came back in a downpour, and water poured over the steps to the front door like a waterfall. We all got soaked.
