Days Inn Hinckley

For the past two years, I've used this hotel for my cribbage tournament, booking blocks of 20 rooms at $94 so people can stay in Hinckley at a good rate. They have to book early to get that price. With the new management this year, I've called for over a month and left my contact details at the front desk, but nobody called me back. Today they quoted $165 a night, even though I can book the same room online right now for $135. That's a terrible way to treat someone bringing you 20 rooms of business. Manager Kelly needs to learn how to manage room blocks, and Whitney needs to communicate. I won't recommend the hotel or bring my business back. I'm taking it elsewhere.

The room was comfy, and my K9 and I spent the day watching movies with some Chilli dogs and a Blizzard from DQ. Breakfast was great when I checked in, so I was happy eating all day. This place is definitely much nicer than "America's Best." I'm planning to come back!

The room smelled strongly of mold, and I'd have to bring something to cover that smell if I stayed again. The lamps were very dusty, but I can live with that. The bed was really comfortable, and the staff were very nice during my one-night stay. They should use an ozone machine in each room for 24 hours, going room by room and leaving each one unrented that night. Lots of people seem to complain about the mold smell. I would stay again, but only with something to mask it.

Keep an eye on your bill and close out as soon as you're done. Don't leave them with access to charge your cards. I stayed over deer hunting with my Dad, and for the first two weekends they charged him more than the quoted amount. On the last weekend, they charged both of us separately for the same room. A coincidence can happen, but when every mistake benefits them, it feels like they may be scamming you. That seems to be what's happening here, so check your charges.
