Candlewood Suites Chicago/Hoffman Estates

I heard a manager yelling at someone all the way down the hall yesterday. I couldn't tell if the person was standing at their door, but the manager was saying things like, “What are you scared of? What are you going to do?” I don't know her name. She was a somewhat tall, heavyset Black woman with a vicious temper, and that's not how a manager should act. I wouldn't want her speaking to me like that or coming to my room that way. The place itself is great, but that manager made me uncomfortable. I hope she doesn't treat other guests this way or frighten them into silence. I asked someone about what happened, and they seemed too afraid to speak. They even worried about whether I was recording, which tells you something. People won't want to stay somewhere they don't feel comfortable. I won't be back.

We had a quiet, lovely stay, and everyone we ran into was friendly. The room was a nice fit for an extended visit, stocked with silverware, cookware, cooking tools, a cute little stove, and a dishwasher. You can borrow just about anything else from the front desk, even a crock pot. The man who checked us in was helpful and nice. I think he was the employee of the month. It's a nice location, and the room was very clean.

I love the place itself, and my stay could've been perfect with better management. The manager gave me the wrong room, then didn't apologize after realizing the mistake. Later, while I was in my room minding my own business, I heard her literally screaming at someone. That's not how a manager should behave. The people I was traveling with are going to leave reviews about it too. Thanks, I like your establishment, but I didn't like how she treated them or me.

Jessica and Xavier at concierge give five-star service every time, whatever I need. The staff are amazing, and I have a great experience whenever I stay here. I'll keep booking this location when I'm in town and need somewhere to stay.
