The Grand Hotel

This is a nicely renovated historic hotel in a small town, and I’d go out of my way to stay here again instead of choosing a chain. The room was comfortable, and the downtown restaurants are a plus. I like places with character, and this is far from a cookie-cutter hotel. A few things to know: there’s no elevator, and the only downstairs room is the handicapped room attached to the lounge. We knew that before booking, but it was a little noisy on Friday and Saturday nights. The historic atmosphere alone makes it worth a stay. Huge thumbs up!

The staff were so warm, helpful, and welcoming. We’ve traveled all over the United States, got married in Savannah, and visited historic and haunted spots throughout the South, but this may be the most beautiful place we’ve stayed. I loved it so much it brought tears to my eyes. It feels like stepping back into the most extraordinary time. We’re absolutely in love with this place and plan to keep coming back until we’ve stayed in every room.

The historic charm won us over, and we’ve already booked the same room for three more football weekends. We stayed one night after an Auburn game and loved it. Melannie greeted us, gave us a tour, and explained everything we needed to know. The room was great, and we enjoyed the balcony before heading to the game. We got back around 1 AM, and the only concern was how much the stairs squeaked on the way to our room. This will be our hotel of choice for future football seasons.

The second-floor porch looks out over downtown, and there’s free street parking right in front of the hotel. They were very accommodating to our small group of riders. Truck traffic can make it a little noisy during the week.
