White Oak Motel & Cottages

The lake is lovely for fishing if you find the right spot, and there's a nice little beach with plenty of boats. There's also a pool for anyone nervous about the Great Whites, though they're pretty rare in White Oak Pond. The old cabins are well preserved and maintained. It really brought back memories.

The lake and beach are so peaceful, and the swimming is perfect. Friendly guests and owners and staff who are involved make it feel just right. The cottages are simple, spotless, and have what you need for a home base. The location also puts you between the bustle of Meredith and Weirs Beach and Plymouth's college town and pubs. We want to come back every year.

The owners were friendly, accommodating, and easy to reach whenever we needed something. We only wish we'd booked early enough to get a lakefront cottage, and my son made me promise we'd return. That'll be an easy promise to keep. He loved the property so much it was hard to get him to leave the beach for dinner or other activities, and he even hugged it goodbye. It had paddle boats, canoes, a floating dock, and sand, all on a quiet pond without large motor boats. We liked the simple, uncomplicated feel of childhood vacations. Meredith and Weir Beach are a short drive away if that's what you like. We headed north for a last minute Fourth of July trip and booked on July 1. I was worried there wouldn't be much left, but was pleasantly surprised to find a room at the White Oaks Motel. The aerial view on the website helped convince me to book. It was convenient, about 2.5 hours from Boston and 10-15 minutes off the highway, yet far enough away to feel like the lakes region. I especially wanted my seven year old son to have a simple old school getaway, and was very pleased with the stay.

A beautiful spot on a quiet lake, with pristine grounds, rustic but clean cottages, and friendly, helpful owners. It's family friendly too. We've been coming for years, and I can't think of a better getaway in beautiful New Hampshire.
