We chose this for a family stay and felt safe, with no cleanliness concerns. The room was decent, and the front desk staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout. It’s a no-frills motel, so don’t expect the amenities or luxury of a three- or four-star hotel. But for an affordable, comfortable night while traveling, it worked well and offered great value. It’s among the cheapest options within a couple miles of downtown Holland, especially during busy periods like the Tulip Festival. We’d seen some older negative reviews before booking, so our good experience at Economy Inn in Holland, Michigan was a surprise.

Just yuck. We stayed one night and the musty, moldy smell hit us, the sheets were dirty, and the beds were really uncomfortable. The room was gross, and we found bugs when we woke up. There were also a bunch of creepy people who seemed to live in some of the rooms. Given the price and the quality of the rooms and service, I’d look elsewhere.

When I arrived at the office, I saw roaches crawling on the walls. The owner said they were only in the office, not the rooms, so I shouldn’t worry. After checking in, I found more roaches in my room and went outside for a while to get away from them. When I came back, I saw the housekeeper in my room going through my wallet and counting my cash. She laughed when I asked what she was doing, and I discovered $150 was missing. I complained at the front office, but the owners called me a liar. I insisted I wasn’t, and they got aggressive and acted as if they were going to slap me. I packed up and left immediately. Don’t stay here if you don’t want to deal with cockroaches, a housekeeper going through your belongings, and owners threatening to fight you. Horrible!
